L'Amour Fou

Ten days, two cars, and countless small towns.

We first landed in Paris to catch a breather before heading down south. Though I called this City of Lights my home in 2012, it feels excitingly foreign every time I return. Paris just has this magical way of drawing out the artists and the romantics, making it the perfect place to be a dreamer. It is a place where beauty hides in small, vine-covered doorways while simultaneously standing as tall testaments to Haussmann's renovation of the city.

A few days later, I bid an unprepared farewell to Paris, and we flew down to Marseille to begin our road trip through the South of France.

I had never been this far south before. I'd only ever heard and seen the rumoured charm from sappy romance films (reliable, obviously) and friendly French cab drivers.

And then, there we were. A small, Asian family puttering along in two European cars, going on a grand ole adventure together. Almost immediately after turning the corner out of the rental car parking lot, the South greeted us with all the beauty and magnificence that I had heard and dreamed of.

From Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence, Cassis, Cannes, Nice, Eze, and ending in Monte Carlo -- here are my snapshots of an unforgettable road trip.
